Denver Portrait Photography
Welcome!
My name is Jermaine Amado, but you can call me "J". Yes my name gets mispronounced from time to time. But it's okay, I will still schedule a photography session with you : )
I am an on-location portrait and wedding photographer in Denver Colorado. "On-location" means that we can have the session at the outdoor location of your choice or at your home. There are no additional cost for either unless it's 70 miles outside my 80210 area code. I am also proud to offer all your images (digital negatives) on a CD, in full resolution and full rights with all my packages!
When doing in-home Denver portrait photography, I bring my lighting equipment, backdrops, and stands to create a small studio at your home. This in convenient because you are able to change clothing, dirty diapers, refill bottles, or retouch your makeup in the comfort of your own home.
I have been a portrait photographer for 6 years and have done baby photography, wedding photography (affordable wedding photography Denver), senior pictures, family portraits, maternity photography, newborn photography, child photography, business headshots, and business photography.
If you have any questions or would like to set up an appointment, please feel free to contact me by phone or email. I understand that there are several photographers in Denver, so I appreciate you taking the time to view my work and I wish you good luck on your search.
Thank you,
Jermaine Amado
FAQs for J.Amado Photography
1. What photography do you offer?
I offer baby photography, newborn photography, maternity photography, senior pictures, family portrait photography, and business headshots, wedding photography and affordable wedding photography
2. Are there any other charges added to your rates? For example, travel time and aditional family members.
There are NO added charges to my rates unless you want to add more time. I am located in central Denver and it is easy to travel to most homes. I travel throughout Denver Colorado Metro area (Lakewood Colorado, Englewood Colorado, Golden Colorado, Thornton Colorado, Northglenn Colorado, Wheat Ridge Colorado, Westminster Colorado, Highlands Ranch Colorado, Centennial Colorado, Cherry Creek Colorado, Littleton Colorado, Aurora Colorado, Lone Tree Colorado, Commerce City Colorado, etc.), as well as Colorado Springs, Castle Rock Colorado, Parker Colorado, Boulder Colorado, Broomfield Colorado, Loveland Colorado and up to Fort Collins Colorado.
3. What do in home portrait photographers do?
When you schedule and in-home portrait photography session, I bring all my lighting equipment, backdrops, and stands to create studio quality pictures. I do not carry props because a picture means a little more when you have your baby's toys, blankets, or something special that the grandparents made them. I do not place a cloth over your furniture and start taking pictures. I create an "in home studio" with all my equipment so all your images can have that "studio feel" without leaving your home. Please see my samples and judge for yourself.
3. Do you need a lot of space to set up?
Working as an in-home portrait photographer in California, I developed a knack for finding the perfect area to set up. If you are worried you have a small space, do not worry, I have done a baby photography session in the kitchen. I will need about 7 feet across by 8 or 9 feet, to set up my equipment. If I need to shrink it, it's definitely possible. The only time when I will need more space is if the family is bigger than 5. Please contact me if you have any questions about available space.
4. When do we get the CD and do we get a release form for our pictures?
After our photo session we can talk about what day would be best for me to drop by or mail you CD with all the images. It takes me between 2-5 days, depending how busy I am, to get to your images and make any needed corrections. You will also receive a release form to print out as many images as you'd like. All portrait photographers should hand you a release when they give you your images on a CD.
Please feel free to contact me with any further questions. Also, please let me know where you found my website (google, yahoo, bing, facebook, etc.)
Baby Photography Denver
I have been a baby photographer in the Denver metro area for 4 years now. Working as an in-home portrait photographer for a company in California, I gained amazing experience in baby photography. Every week I would have around 20 baby portrait sessions, for nearly 2 years. I met lots of babies! Although it may sound routine, every session was different. No two babies were alike. Every baby had their own laugh or smile, and it was great! I loved going to work then and I love it now!
Not all portrait sessions were babies though. Sometimes I would have child portraits and family portraits. As a baby photographer, I find great comfort in the fact that I have to try hard to not take a good photograph of a baby. Every picture they take, they have different expression, laugh, or cry. It's wonderful! Please feel to contact me with any questions concerning baby photography Denver.
Senior Pictures Denver
When searching for a Denver senior photographers, it's important to consider the flexibility of the photographer for the location and that they offer the digital files of the senior pictures. For Denver senior pictures I believe it's important to offer the CD and the release form so they could be able to upload their pictures to their favorite social network or to send them to friends and family through email.
High school senior photography in Denver offers amazing places for senior pictures, like an outdoor session by a lake, a river, at a ranch, or on the field or court of their favorite sport. Senior pictures are very important, so don't let your senior fool you by saying they do not care. They DO care and I am sure they have thought about the perfect location for their Denver senior portraits, senior pics. If you have any questions concerning senior pictures Denver please feel free to contact me. Congratulations seniors!
Family Photography Denver
The hardest part of family photography is getting everyone to agree on a time and place for the family photo. It's because of this, that most family portraits occur during the holiday season. As a professional on-location Denver portrait photographer, I am able to bring my equipment to the comfort of your home. But the great thing about Denver family photography is all the beautiful scenery that Denver Colorado has to offer, for the perfect family photo backdrop.
Other Denver family photographers charge per person after the 4th or 5th family member. If you schedule a family portrait photography session with me, there are no additional charges for extra family members, as long as we complete our session within the time frame we agreed upon. If you have any questions about family portraits Denver please feel free to contact me.
Newborn Photography Denver
Many people ask me, "When is the best time to have a newborn photography session done". Some Denver newborn photographers will do a newborn photography session anytime within the first 2 weeks. Having the session done within the first 2 weeks does work, but I have found that the best time to have the newborn photo session is between the first 4-7 days. During this time they sleep a lot and the baby acne has not appeared yet. It is important that they sleep while we are bothering them and moving them around, so they won't be fussy.
My B-stop, 1.5 hour, package is recommended for Denver newborn photography because we will likely capture some new born photos with their eyes open and while they sleep. All my photography sessions take place at the comfort of your own home. It's especially helpfull for newborn photography sessions because it's the most comfortable place for a new family. If you have any questions about newborn photography Denver please feel free to contact me.
Maternity Photography Denver
As a Denver maternity photographer I offer both in-home studio style maternity portraits and on-location maternity photography sessions. I offer a discount package when you schedule maternity photography and anewborn photography session.
The preferred time for a maternity photography session is usually towards the end of the pregnancy, around 8 months. We want a big belly for the photos! If you feel that there might be a chance for a premature birth, please let me know when you feel would be the best time for the session. There are many Denver maternity photographers and it is important to choose the right photographer to document this beautiful experience. If you have any further questions about maternity photography Denver please feel free to contact me.
Business Headshots Denver
I offer professional business headshots for executives, small business owners, or for your corporate office. When scheduling an appointment for corporate headshots or business headshots, we will discuss if a traditional backdrop set-up would work best or setting up in an office so that could be the backdrop. I perform all headshot sessions at your office or location of your choice. This way I have my set up there and your employees would not have to travel for their headshots.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions concerning Denver executive headshots, Denver corporate headshots, or Denver business headshots for you office. I have worked with companies like Turner Construction, Genesis Fitness, Frito-Lay Denver and Mac Gray for their employee company headshots.
Child Photography Denver
The difference between child photography and baby photography is that we are no longer in control. Yes, children hold all the power. To me the difference between a child and a baby is that it's a little harder to put a smile on their face when they have made it very clear that they don't want to cooperate.
With a baby you can make some funny faces, or noises, feed them, or give them a toy and that will buy us a little more time. Children don't work that way. If you tell them to smile when they don't want to, they might cry, give you a half smile and look down at the ground, or run to their room. When scheduling a Denver child photography session, we should plan on a time when the children are happiest and I will try as hard as possible to bring a genuine smile to their face. If you have any questions about child photography Denver please feel free to contact me.
Wedding Photography Denver
Maybe it's just a photographers point of view, but I feel that photography is the most important part of your wedding. Well...the both of you saying "Yes!" is more important but the pictures are a close second. When searching for Denver wedding photographers you need to shop around. Search for what's in your budget, a strong wedding photography portfolio, and if your wedding photographer offers what you are looking for. Are you looking to just have the CD with full rights and all your images in full resolution? Do you need prints with your package? Do you need an online viewing gallery for your friends and family?
It is important to figure out what you want out of the pictures, on the most important day of your life. Call photographers and ask questions. This is a very important decision because you cannot redo a wedding session.
There are several wedding photographers in Denver for you to choose from. Some offer more expensive packages than others and others have a better wedding photography portfolio. The choice is yours and I truly and honestly wish you the best. If you choose me I promise to care about your day and to care about your pictures.
Please feel free to contact J. Amado Photography to discuss photography on your wedding day!
Thank you,
Jermaine Amado

A quick guide to wedding photography on your special day…
By the time your special day arrives the venue has already been scoped, the poses have already been planned, and all equipment should be ready.
Photography of the venue should be first on the list. The empty chairs, the calm feel of the alter is a great shot. On the way to see the bride take a couple more pictures of the location.
The "getting ready" pictures are a lot of fun. Some brides do not like their pictures taken without makeup, but they will cherish those pictures forever. See if your wedding photographer Denver would set up a couple of scenes with the bride and her bridesmaids to photograph. Do not forget to take some pictures of the groom as well!
Follow the bride on her way to the ceremony. Capture those amazing moments before her before she says "I do". Run and get different angles of this walk. Capture the look she gives her husband and the look family and guest give her. During the ceremony do some more running! Lots and lots of angles are needed for this moment! The rings and the first kiss are the most important.
The walk back together as husband and wife is great. Don't miss one step. This is my favorite part of wedding photography.
For me, the family portraits are always best before the reception. Grab the family and friends that are going to be in these wedding portraits. The poses should already be planned, but it still can be a little stressing. It's not very easy to coordinate when everyone is moving around. Do your best and make this quick. A large group of people get tired, quick! This is also a good time to do any "fun" poses planned.
At the reception, get the introduction, the dance, and the cake. Move around and get to know the friends and family. If they know you a little, they will smile a little brighter. A lot of candid pictures during the reception, so do your best impression of a photojournalist. Have fun!
Baby Photography Denver
I am a portrait photographer in Denver Colorado and have been specializing in baby photography for 5 years now. Along the way, I have learned many techniques for the perfect baby portrait that I will share here.
The best time to for outdoor portraits of your baby is around the 1 year mark. By this age they can stand up by themselves for a little while or they can take a couple of steps. This is great because we can get something different. After months of pictures of your baby crawling, the 1 year mark brings something special and great! Denver Colorado offers a lot of great parks where you can have that amazing 1 year portrait. One of my favorite spots is baby photography in Washington Park. I have also done baby portraits in City Park, Clement Park, Red Rocks, and Cherry Creek State Park.
Bring out the true smile and laugh of the baby. Make noises! Sneeze! Play peek-a-boo. Shake your head and make boat noises. Still stuck? Ask the parents! Mom and dad know best and I know they have a couple tricks to help make your baby laugh. Is there a song the baby likes? Would they dance if everyone sings the song? Would they sing along (or try)? Would they clap once the song is over?
Some babies might be a little uncomfortable with strangers so think twice before you go for the obvious and start tickling the baby.
There are many ways to get the baby to interact with you so they could eventually feel comfortable around you and show you that great smile. So again, ask the parents for new things their baby is doing. Babies do a lot of hilarious things at this stage in their life because they have started to develop a personality. So every moment is precious!
Make sure you get a shot of the new family walking. It's a simple and easy shot, but a great one. Who wouldn't want a picture with their baby taking one of their first steps with them.
Close ups are always great. They're babies! Close ups are bad for you and I, but not them. Get a picture of their first set of teeth. One crying or pouting picture is okay but only at the end of the photo session. You don't want puffy eyes on all the pictures. But if they do cry, just wait a little.
Good luck! Remember, with babies you can NEVER have a bad picture!
4 Things that inspire me as a photographer
1 Light!! Have you seen how beautiful the light at sunset is? Doesn't it make you want to get any camera available to take a picture? Have you ever walked on a dark street and you see that one street light on? How about the way a room glows when it's natural lit? We have all seen this and we all have stopped what we're doing to admire it.
2. Color!! We all love spring and summer (sometimes) to take pictures, but we all can agree that the fall colors are the best! The explosion of those warm fall colors in the background make the photograph pop. Suppose you have a blue top and your bottoms are a different shade of blue. If you were to walk in front of a blue building, it's beautiful! Some might say it's too much blue, but that would inspire me.
3. Architecture!! The architecture doesn't have to be fancy and elegant to make a good photograph. Sometimes a run down older home can make an amazing backdrop. A good photographer can make any setting look beautiful. But when you find architecture and the perfect angle, to make it UNIQUE AND BEAUTIFUL, that's when you become a GREAT photographer.
4. People!! Sometimes laughter, light, color, and architecture doesn't matter. Sometimes taking a simple portrait or candid shot of a person is beautiful. When you're able to see and feel their emotions through a single shot, THAT is my ultimate inspiration. PEOPLE!! Whether it's happiness or pain. If I'm able to see that through their eyes, scars, or body language, I find it hard to take my eyes off that photograph. We all have seen these pictures and we all have been inspired by them.
