8 Tips On How to Plan the Perfect Surprise Proposal

So you’re here because you want to plan a surprise proposal photography shoot!

Let’s get to it.

• Pick a date. If your date is flexible, be sure your photographer knows.
• Pick the location. Pick the EXACT spot where you will pop the question. Since this is a surprise, you’ll have to know or chat with your photographer about the exact location to avoid ANY confusion during this special moment. Discuss specfic markers like; in front of this sign or 30 yards or meters past the quarter mile marker.
• Pick the exact time you will be at this location.
• Pick a lie. Lie about where you are going, only if you need to. You know each other best. So pick something that won’t raise suspicions.
• Grab your outfits. Your outfits should reflect who you are at this moment in time. If you’re going out for a nice dinner, then dress up or keep it casual. If you’re going for a hike, then wear your hiking gear. You will take a selfie and send this to your photographer so they know who to look for.
• Text with your photographer when you are close by.
• RELAX! Everything is planned by now. Once the photographer sees you in motion, they will pop out and capture those powerful moments.
• Walk around. Take your first photos as an engaged couple. It’s my favorite part.

On a side note…

An alternative solution to the lies and stress, is to schedule a ‘couples photoshoot’, with them knowing! AND THEN surprise them with the question in the middle of the shoot.
